Highland Hotel 4 – 2 Mintlaw

1st Touch Football Division Two (East) at Inverdee on Saturday 6th November

Both teams took the field with full strength squads needing the points to pull them out of the relegation zone.

Mintlaw’s Thompson scorned a great chance in eight minutes when, with only the keeper to beat, he put his shot past the post.

Two minutes later Highland were awarded a free kick in the centre circle. The ball was sent high and long into the eighteen yard box where Hugo Costa used every inch of his six foot plus height to get his head to the ball and send it past keeper Murray.

Their lead lasted for five minutes until Mintlaw’s Park was pulled down in the penalty box and Ewan Little converted from the spot.

Neither team was playing with any conviction, passes going astray and mistakes made in all departments.

Just before half time Mintlaw failed to clear their lines and a loose ball fell to Ryan Snow who sidefooted the ball into the net giving Highland a half time lead.

Half-time: 2-1

Nineteen minutes into the second half a corner to Highland Hotel was sent to the far post and headed back across goal where Darren Craig‘s shot found the back of the net.

Highland Hotel went further ahead in sixty nine minutes when Ryan Snow chipped the ball over keeper Murray, ran past him and scored his second and Highland’s fourth.

With five minutes left Mintlaw’s Shaun Park beat fullback Dunn and fired past keeper Reiach making the final score 4-2.
