Cammachmore 2 – 4 Bucksburn United

Fosters Scottish Amateur Cup Second Round at Newtonhill on Saturday 9th October

Division One (East) side Bucksburn Utd left it late in the game against Third Division Cammachmore. Twice they were behind but fought back in the last ten minutes to overcome Cammachmore and proceed into the next round of the Cup.

The game started on a very heavy pitch but it only took Cammachmore sixteen seconds to go ahead with a goal from Ryan Causby who chipped keeper McDougall from eighteen yards.

Cammachmore’s Runcie was unlucky in twelve minutes when his drive beat keeper McDougall and went narrowly past the post. Both sets of players were finding it difficult to keep their feet on the soft ground leading to passes going astray.

Bucksburn’s first chance came when a long clearance from keeper McDougall found Ross on the right. His cross was met by Wilson whose shot was saved by keeper McCarron. Bucksburn levelled the score in twenty three minutes when a shot from Stuart Robbie beat the unsighted keeper McCarron.

Cammachmore were having most of the play and in thirty eight minutes had the ball in the net but referee Clark disallowed for offside and the score remained 1-1 at half time.

Bucksburn started the livelier team in the second half and had Cammachmore defence under pressure and keeper McCarron had to make saves from Nicolson and Morrison. Against the run of play in sixty four minutes Cammachmore’s Ryan Causby made a solo run, beating three men and scoring his second goal.

In eighty two minutes Bucksburn’s Allan Gill hammered home a shot from a corner on the right. Four minutes later Cammachmore failed to clear their lines and Bucksburn’s Dave Warner fired home to make the score. From the restart Cammachmore’s Causby made another run only to see his shot hit the outside of the post and go out of play.

Just on time Cammachmore were caught pushing forward and a long ball out of Bucksburn’s defence fell to Kevin Wilson who put the ball under the advancing keeper making the final score 2-4.
