Rattrays XI 8 – 1 FC Geldie

1st Touch Football Division One (North) at Heathryfold on Saturday 14th August

Goals galore see Rattrays XI keep up their winning run to go top of 1st Touch Football Division One (North).

Geldie went ahead with one of the fastest goals this season when Rattrays’ fullback Lee Amos put the ball past his own keeper in the first minute.

In the next nine minutes Rattrays pounded the Geldie goal but an on-form keeper McDonald made four outstanding saves from Rattrays’ Michie, Forbes and Flett. He was finally beaten when Sean Flett received a pass from Michie and fired the ball past keeper McDonald.

Rattrays scored again in seventeen minutes but referee Morrison disallowed for offside. Rattrays went ahead when in eighteen minutes Edwards beat his marker and crossed to Michael Pocklington who scored from close range.

Brian Forbes made it 3-1 in twenty three minutes with a fierce drive from twenty yards.

In twenty five minutes Rattrays’ Michie got a foot to a cross from the right but his effort hit the post and was cleared upfield. With twenty six minutes gone Craig Michie made it 4-1 after a run at Geldie’s defence.

Geldie could not cope with the pressure and from a corner in thirty seven minutes Ian Smith scored for Rattrays at the far post making the half time score 5-1.

Half-time: 5-1

Geldie started the second half with determination playing passing football and pushing Rattrays back into their own half. Against the run of play in sixty six minutes Rattrays’ Jamie Flett scored after receiving the ball from a throw in.

Rattrays came back into the game and Geldie’s keeper was forced to make a double save from Yeats. Minutes later Rattrays’ Jamie Freeland was unmarked at the far post when he took a cross from Forbes and stabbed the ball past keeper McDonald 7-1.

Keeper McDonald made some fine saves but in the eighty eighth minute he let a soft shot from Jamie Flett slip under his body to make the final score 8-1.
