Torphins 0 – 3 Portlethen Utd

Division Three at Kincarine O’Neil on Saturday 29th August

The game kicked off late because the Torphins manager accidently locked the referee in his dressing room. Portlethen were the more aggressive team and had Torphins pushed back in their own half for the first ten minutes.

Torphins’ first move came when White found himself in the clear and with only the keeper to beat he saw his shot go for a corner off Murphy’s foot. With the game flowing from end to end neither team could penetrate the opposition’s defence.

In twenty five minutes Torphins’ Strachan had a chance to put his team ahead but his wild shot went way over the bar. At the other end Portlethen’s Jordan Gray should have scored but his poor finish went past the upright.

In thirty five minutes from a free kick to Portlethen the ball was sent to the far post where Brown headed towards goal but the ball was cleared off the line by Scott McGregor.

Half-time: 0-0

From the restart Portlethen’s Jordan Gray was giving Torphins’ defence problems with his speed and skill on the ball and in fifty one minutes he beat three men and from eighteen yards he then beat keeper Cooper.

Torphins were getting frustrated and committed niggley fouls giving Portlethen the chance to push forward. On the hour mark Jordan Gray scored a second when he raced forward and his blistering shot flew into the net.

In seventy seven minutes it was Jordan Gray again who outjumped the defence to head home a free kick to make the score final 0-3.

Full Time: 0-3
