Kincorth 4 – 2 University

Premier Trophy at Kincorth Academy on Saturday 26th September

Kincorth were three up at half time but with a poor second half performance let University back into the game.

Kincorth had an understrength team out but started well going a goal up in the first minute from the penalty spot after Stuart was pulled down in the box and Andrew Gove converted. Five minutes later Kincorth were two up from a corner on the left. Full back Paul Scott headed the ball into his own net trying to clear.

Uni’s first chance came on the half hour mark when Bell had only the keeper to beat but keeper Stephen pulled off a great save. A minute later Uni’s Lamont broke away, beat two men but his shot went past the upright. Five minutes before the break a shot from Kincorth’s James Simpson hit a defender and flew past the keeper into the net making the half time score 3-0.

Uni started the half the better team pushing forward in numbers and had Kincorth pinned back in their own half for the first fifteen minutes. Only good goal keeping and a fine display from Kincorth’s veteran sweeper Barrack kept the Uni forwards at bay. Uni’s pressure paid off in the sixty third minute when Aurele Champion rounded his marker and lobbed the ball over keeper Stephen. Four minutes later Uni were awarded a penalty and Calum Lamont placed the shot out of keeper Stephen’s reach.

With fifteen minutes left an incident on the halfway line saw Kincorth’s Simpson and Uni’s Champion red carded. In eighty minutes a Kincorth throw in level with the six yard line was flicked on to Andrew Gove who headed past the keeper to make the final score 4-2.
