University Colts win the Castle Rovers Cup

Rattrays XI 0 – 0 University Colts (AET), University Colts won 3-2 on penalties

It has been twenty plus years since Rattrays XI won a Cup and they took the field against Uni Colts with a strong team. These two met last week in a League match and Colts equalised in the last minute of the game to steal a point.

Tonight’s match started at a slow pace with both teams wary of one another. The first chance came to Colts in the twentieth minute when Chris Comfort’s shot was pushed away by keeper Braidwood. Rattrays’ first shot at goal came in thirty minutes when Chris Loggie had a shot saved by keeper Moffatt.

Half time: 0-0

The second half was contested in the middle of the park neither team making chances until Nicky Loggie broke away and with only the keeper to beat put his shot wide of the post.

Full time: 0-0

There was no scoring in either period of extra time and then the game went to penalties with Colts coming out on top 2-3.
