Deva Dons 0 – 5 Grammar FPs

Division Two (East) at Balgownie on Saturday 21st March

This was a must win game for Deva Dons but five goals from Grammar FPs with no reply put Deva in deep relegation trouble.

FPs started the brighter side pushing forward and making chances. With twelve minutes gone FPs’ Young had a great chance but, from an angle and with only the keeper to beat, he put his shot into the side netting. In fifteen minutes FPs went ahead when Yeats slipped a perfect ball through to Forbes who put the ball under keeper Stewart.

Four minutes later a shot from FPs’ Letissier was pushed out by keeper Stewart only as far as Letissier who made no mistake at the second attempt. FPs then increased their lead in thirty-five minutes when a poor clearance out of defence by Murray fell to Young who had the easiest of chances and scored from six yards. Just before half time Young was unlucky when his shot was stopped by keeper Stewart’s leg.

Half-time: 0-3

The second half started with Deva’s Frost making a solo run through the middle but his shot went four yards over the bar. Deva’s passing was going astray finding the opposition instead of their own men resulting in increased pressure from FPs. A move by FPs’ McPherson and Forbes broke through Deva’s defence and Forbes’ shot rebounded off the bar before being cleared upfield.

Deva had a five minute spell when they managed to get upfield but poor finishing by their strikers let them down. Deva were awarded a free kick in a central position eighteen yards out but it was wasted when the strike from Clark went well past the post.

FPs’ Forbes made the score 0-4 in eighty-four minutes when unchallenged his shot flew into the top corner of the net. Forbes got his hat trick and his team’s fifth goal after receiving a pass from Young making the final score 0-5.
