Aberdeen Trophy Centre Premier Trophy First Round at Lochside on Saturday 28th August

Newly promoted Woodside go through to the next round of the Aberdeen Trophy Centre Premier Trophy after beating Premier League Champions Bon Accord in an exciting game.

Ten minutes of play elapsed before any keeper was called into action when Bon Accord’s keeper Morrison had to push a shot from Woodside’s Jack round the post for a corner. Woodside’s Donaldson made a run down the right, sent in a cross which was headed over the bar by Simpson.

Woodside went ahead in twelve minutes after a cross from Jack was punched out by keeper Morrison as far as Woodside’s Barry Gray who scored from six yards.

Woodside’s lead lasted for three minutes after a run by Bon Accord’s McCulloch who passed to Stewart McLaren whose shot went into the goal via the post.

Play was flowing from end to end, both keepers having to make saves and in thirty seven minutes Bon Accord went ahead after Woodside failed to clear a loose ball allowing Craig Tiffnay to score for Bon Accord making the score at half time 2-1.

The second half started with Bon Accord looking to add to their lead but they could not break down the strong Woodside defence. With sixty three minutes gone Woodside’s keeper Warman made the save of the match diving to his right and fingertipping the ball for a corner from Tiffnay’s drive.

Bon Accord were caught appealling for offside and let Mark Donaldson through to score the equaliser. Woodside wrapped the game up in eighty five minutes when James Simpson beat keeper Morrison with a right foot drive making the final score 2-3.

Bon Accord City: Morrison, Stewart, Andrew Craig, Harris, Bews, Tiffnay, Small, McLaren, Scott Craig, McCulloch, Reid. Subs – Philip Craig, Falco, Guyan, Jason Craig, Mowat.

Woodside: Warman, Reid, Taylor, Buchan, Main, Gibb, Donaldson, Gray, Simpson, Thomson, Jack. Subs – Petrie, McGunnigle, Abadi.

Referee - K. Taylor

1st Touch Football Division Two (North) at Tullos on Saturday 21st August

Torry Utd got their first win of the season beating ARI comfortably at home.

ARI started the better team, pushing forward and forcing Torry defenders to make mistakes but could not take advantage. With eleven minutes gone ARI’s Whyte beat two men and his fierce shot was pushed round the post by Torry keeper Clark at full stretch.

Torry’s first opportunity came minutes later when Innes’ long range shot slipped past the upright.

ARI should have gone ahead when Gidemann’s slack pass back to his keeper was collected by ARI’s Baldwin and with only the keeper to beat his shot went wide of the target.

In twenty six minutes Torry’s Chris Clark made a run down the right, crossed to Kieron Innes who beat keeper Milne with a right foot drive.

Half-time: 1-0

The second half started with ARI’s Dan Constable levelling the score in forty six minutes.

Five minutes later Constable got his head to a free kick and keeper Clark pushed for a corner. Torry were awarded a penalty when keeper Milne pulled down Scott in the box. This was converted by Gordon Wright.

Gordon Wright was on the score sheet again when he headed past keeper Milne from a corner.

Torry were running riot and in sixty five minutes Mark Munro ran through unchallenged and beat keeper Milne from six yards.

ARI pulled one back in sixty nine minutes when a cross from the right was met by Scott Baldwin whose header found the net.

Five minutes from time Torry’s Kieron Innes made it 5-2 and two minutes later Kieron Innes‘ long distance shot found the corner of the net making the final score 6-2.

Full Time: 6-2
