This North of Scotland Cup third round tie was switched to Inverdee to get the game played. Two goals from Ian McKenzie and one from Andrew Connon were enough to see Westdyke through to the next round despite a man-of-the-match effort from Insch 'keeper Errol Watson.

North of Scotland Cup Third Round at Inverdee on Saturday 6th March

Both teams had to travel to Inverdee after Insch were forced to give up ground rights due to an unplayable pitch after the fixture had been postponed for the past two weeks. The ground staff at Inverdee have worked wonders this week to get the pitches playable.

Westdyke started with a run down the left and Insch keeper Errol Watson had to look sharp to save from Taylor. From a free kick to Insch in the fifth minute the ball was sent to the far post where Jaffrey slid in and made contact but the ball hit the outside of the post and went out of play.

In fifteen minutes a Westdyke move involving Bain, Stevenson and McKenzie let Ian Mckenzie drive the ball into the net from close range. Westdyke continued to push forward but could not add to the score before half time.

Half-time: 0-1

In the second period Insch’s keeper Watson made save after save keeping his team in the game. Westdyke’s McKenzie was causing havoc on the right wing, crossing the ball into his strikers who could not beat man of the match keeper Errol Watson.

In sixty three minutes Westdyke’s Doig should have scored but keeper Watson made yet another great save. Half way through the half Westdyke were awarded a disputed penalty which Ian McKenzie converted.

Westdyke finally sealed the game in eighty nine minutes when Andrew Connon managed to beat keeper Watson from four yards putting Westdyke into the fourth round of the North of Scotland Cup.

Full Time: 0-3

Insch: Errol Watson, Thomson, Sean Watson, Duthie, Reid, Cairns, Sinclair, Williams, Davidson, Mair, Jaffrey. Subs – Steele, Harper, Mackie

Westdyke: Neill, Bruce, Aitchison, Bain, Douglas, Fotheringham, McKenzie, Taylor, Wilson, Stevenson, Anderson. Subs – Doig, Yule, Simpson, Goldie, Connon

Referee - S. Middleton

Division One (East) at Kaimhill on Saturday 27th February

Glendale gave up ground rights to get this fixture played after so many weeks without games due to the adverse weather. Both teams are struggling in the lower half of Division One (East) and needed the three valuable points.

RGU took the initiative from the start and shots from Lynch and Campbell were held by Glendale keeper Walker.

In thirteen minutes RGU’s defence failed to clear the ball upfield and Glendale’s Christopher Garden scored with a drive from twenty yards.

In sixteen minutes RGU’s Adams made a run down the right and his cross was met by Thain whose shot slipped past the post.

The game was confined to the middle of the park with both teams moves breaking down outside the penalty box and there was no more scoring before half time.

Half-time: 1-0

RGU started the second half as they did the first pushing forward, but unable to break down a stubborn Glendale defence.

In fifty four minutes RGU were unlucky when a cross from Adams found Campbell’s head but the header hit the cross bar before being sent for a corner.

Glendale had a great chance when RGU keeper Milne could not hold a shot from Hay and it rebounded to Glendale’s Noble whose shot was cleared off the line by defender Lally.

Four minutes later RGU were reduced to ten men when Adams was sent off for a second yellow card incident. RGU continued to push forward at every opportunity but some good saves from Glendale’s keeper Walker frustrated them.

On two separate occasions Glendale’s Noble should have scored when with only keeper Milne to beat he put his first shot past the post and the second keeper Milne pushed for a corner.

Just on time Glendale settled the game when Andrew Noble finally managed to beat keeper Milne from ten yards making the final score 2-0.

Full Time: 2-0
